Minister for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republic of Srpska Asst. Prof. Željko Budimir, PhD, paid his first working visit to the University of Banja Luka on 28 December 2022, where he visited the construction works in the University Campus and met with the Rector’s Team, students and deans of members of our higher education institution in which capital investments have been made.
Minister Budimir says that it was an honour for him to start his mandate with a visit to the University of Banja Luka.
,,Public universities are strategic institutions in the system of higher education, and one of the priorities in my mandate is to help our public universities improve the teaching process“ the minister said and pointed out that the Government of the Republic of Srpska will continue supporting higher education.
According to the minister, this working meeting was certainly an opportunity to talk about the teaching process, scientific activities and all those activities that make a university.
,,Rector Gajanin and his Rector's Team are a source of pride for the academic community of the Republic of Srpska, as they continuously contribute to the development of the University with their dedicated work“, is the message of the minister who expressed his full support for all the activities of the Rector's Team and the entire University.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, emphasizes that this visit was an opportunity for the minister to familiarize himself with all the capital investments that are being made in the University Campus, the aim of which is to create better working conditions.
As the rector stated, they discussed the teaching process and how to make it even better. Certainly, this meeting was also an opportunity to talk about cooperation with student representatives and about projects and activities.
,,A number of project activities are taking place at the University, some are in the initial phase, some are in the final phase, but we are satisfied with the dynamics of their implementation.“, Rectcor Gajanin said and explained that the Rector’s Team is committed to strengthening the teaching process and the students’ competences.
,,In the forthcoming period, one of the most important activities will be the completion of construction works on the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Faculty of Forestry, as well as the completion of works on the furnishing and designing of the Student Cultural Centre and the construction of a preschool education centre within the University Campus“, the rector explained and emphasized that all these capital investments come from the funds of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, and that all works are expected to be completed in the following year.
President of the University of Banja Luka Students’ Parliament Andrej Ševa says that the student representatives are of the opinion that the University is additionally opening up on a global level, in order to attract a greater number of foreign students who would come to study in Banja Luka, i.e., at the University of Banja Luka. Furthermore, he says that at the meeting with the minister there were also talks about the advantages of studying at the University of Banja Luka, which, according to him, place us among the world's higher education institutions.
