Wireless Internet in the University Campus

As of 14 December 2023, part of the area of the University of Banja Luka Campus is covered by free wireless internet.

Namely, Ruckus Wireless Outdoor AP wireless internet devices, which provide a better wireless internet network in the University Campus, were procured through the national project "Improving the University of Banja Luka Wireless Network Capacity and Security for Scientific Purposes", funded by the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska.

"Currently, the area of the University Campus is covered by a wireless internet network, and we continue to focus on improving it, in order to further strengthen the scientific research infrastructure. The existence of a communication infrastructure for communication, data transfer, access to databases, sending and processing of a large amount of data is the first prerequisite for carrying out scientific research", the coordinator of this project, Predrag Govedarica, MA, said and thanked the Ministry and the relevant minister, Asst. Prof. Željko Budimir, PhD, for his support in the implementation of the project.

The team that worked on this project consisted of, in addition to Govedarica, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Head of the University Computer Centre Aleksandar Gaćina, and Senior Associate - Network Administrator Nebojša Babić. They highlighted the need for further improvement of wireless access devices such as the Ruckus Wireless Outdoor AP, which is installed according to an optimized design developed by the University Computer Centre team. As they pointed out, in the forthcoming period the goal is to cover the entire area of the University Campus with free wireless internet.
