RS Science and Technology Park Started Operating

The Office of the Science and Technology Park of the Republic of Srpska, located in the building of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and Faculty of Forestry of the University of Banja Luka, was officially opened on 26 June 2024.
 
The opening of the Office was attended by the Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska Asst. Prof. Željko Budimir, PhD, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of Serbia Jelena Begović, PhD, Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, vice-rectors of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and Prof. Aleksandar Ostojić, PhD.
 
Minister Budimir pointed out that the construction of the building where the Science and Technology Park will be located is soon to begin, as well as that the funds applied to the Saudi Fund for Development are expected.
 
"I hope that this day is writing the history of the new scientific community in the Republic of Srpska, which, together with the Serbian academic and scientific community of Serbia, should create what we have been waiting for a long time, which is the Science and Technology Park of the Republic of Srpska. It should be the engine of technological development, technology transfer and connections for all those high technologies in which the Republic of Srpska should participate in the 21st century," Budimir said.
Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of Serbia Jelena Begović, PhD, is of the opinion that the Science and Technology Park of the Republic of Srpska is a great opportunity for young people. She says that the governments of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska support scientific communities that may be small, but have a lot of smart people.
Director of the Science and Technology Park of the Republic of Srpska Nikola Dragović said that this park will be a place where numerous innovations will be successfully commercialized.
Last year, the Government of the Republic of Srpska adopted the information on establishment of the first Science and Technology Park, the aim of which is to accelerate technological development in accordance with good examples of international practice.
The Science and Technology Park, in which 19 million euros will be invested, should attract domestic and foreign innovative, technological development companies and create conditions for the development of a knowledge-based economy, i.e. the commercialization of innovations created in the process of research and development, and thus accelerate the development and export of products and services. The Government of the Republic of Srpska and the University of Banja Luka are  the founders of the Republic of Srpska Science and Technology Park.
