Learning objectives | ||||
The course is an introduction to the field of rural planning through a systemic approach to rural areas, the basis of which students have already adopted in the courses of Rural development and Rural geography. Defining the development possibilities and limitations of the rural area from the aspect of rural planning and the basic planning methodology that are developed theoretically and practically, with a focus on the level of rural territories and the level of rural settlements. The subject is oriented towards the role of spatial planners in the process of rural planning, with a critical review of the current legislation and planning practice in the Republic of Srpska. | ||||
Learning outcomes | ||||
Students are trained for jobs in rural planning in planning bureaus and local self-government units. Acquired knowledge enables a complex analysis of development possibilities and limitations of rural space, mastering the methodology of rural space research and planning through different spatial levels for the needs of strategic and operational rural planning and understanding the role of spatial planner in multidisciplinary planning teams. Students master the skills of critical thinking about the state of rural development in the Republic of Srpska and B&H, current problems and needs, performing geospatial analysis and presenting results, and finding systemic solutions in the field of rural planning. | ||||

1. Introduction to the subject and area of research; Separation of rural space; Rural planning in the spatial development system. 2. Historical overview of the development of rural territories in the Republic of Srpska / B&H; Formation of a network of settlements and village atars. 3. Structure and typology of atar; Land operations (land consolidation, arrondation, expropriation). 4. Elements for the planning process of rural areas: natural and geographical conditions of the area. 5. Elements for the spatial-functional organization of rural areas: physical and social infrastructure. 6. Rural planning in spatial plans in the Republic of Srpska and legal regulations. 7. Rural planning methodology - regional and local level. 8. Population: spatial distribution and structural characteristics in the process of rural planning. 9. Rural settlements: Elements of settlements; Typology of settlements in the function of planning; Contemporary development processes and transformation of rural settlements. 10. Characteristics of rural households and properties. 11. General rules of arrangement and regulation in rural settlements. 12. Valorization and protection of natural and cultural assets. 13. Complex valorization of rural areas and diversification of the rural economy. 14. Management of rural development. 15.
