This course includes knowledge of rock and soil mechanics, stress state in rock massif.
Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce mining students to the basics of monitoring in mining, their characteristics and application possibilities.
Learning outcomes
Students will get acquainted with the observation of underground and surface facilities in mining, both during their construction and during their exploitation, and in this way they will understand the problems of designing the construction and functioning of the monitoring system.
Content
During the course, students will learn about the observation of underground and surface structures in mining, both during their construction, as well as during their exploitation and after it. The need for these monitoring systems is due to the possibility of correcting technical solutions during the realization of surface and underground exploitation, contribution to the choice of exploitation technology and its adaptation, rational and economic design of slopes, i.e. underground rooms, contribution to safety when performing surface and underground works. In this way, it significantly contributes to the safety of exploitation and the economy of maintenance. The course will provide the listeners with an understanding of the design, construction and functioning of the monitoring system.
Teaching Methods
Lectures, computer exercises and consultations. Independent preparation of a seminar paper.

Evaluation and grading
Attendance and activity in classes, making essays, taking tests and the final exam.
Specific remarks
Students are required to attend classes, do exercises, prepare an essay, pass the colloquium and the final exam.
